Showbiz Central is celebrating their 5th year anniversary with the Primetime Queen Marian Rivera. In terms of climb to fame, Marian and Showbiz Central practically grew up together. This was the interview that was supposed to air last Sunday but because of the boxing punches in a club(Albie-Anie brouhaha) and at NAIA3(Santiago’s VS Mon Tulfo), the show didn’t have time to air it. Anyhoo, here it is, and how gorgeous Marian is with her loose curls and sexy yellow outfit?

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: In the face of a flurry of testimonials by co-actors attesting to her great, funny character in real life – sa totoo lang – Marian Rivera issues a belated one-liner.
The forever controversial actress declares at the press launch of her new sitcom, “Tweets for my Sweet,” that it was only recently that she finally realized that an actor has a social responsibility to her public.
Describing herself as non-showbiz – meaning to say, someone who says what she means and means what she says and not going around town greeting every one unless she knows them all – the Caviteña actress added that people have to respect that side of an artista’s life as well.
Nova Villa, who plays Marian’s grandmother in “Tweets,” led the testimonials in praise of the “My Beloved” actress. The veteran comedian said she was well aware of the negative comments heaped upon Marian, but was surprised to discover the opposite after only a few days of taping.
“How can anyone who’s so bungisngis be pictured as someone so negative?” Nova wondered.
Roderick Paulate, who plays the negative character in “Tweets for my Sweet,” related an incident wherein Marian came up to him as they awaited their turn during a show at the Araneta Coliseum years ago. They had not been formally introduced, and **** welcomed the idea that someone like Marian would approach him to introduce herself.
“It’s a lumang kultura sa showbiz, going back to the days of Lolita Rodriguez and Gloria Romero. It was a time when young actors were trained to greet and pay their respects to the senior stars no matter if they had not been formally introduced to each other,” Roderick shared.
The actor said he welcomed the opportunity to do a comedy show once again. It is such a breather, he said, in the face of all that serious work he renders as a councilman in Quezon City.
“Tweets for my Sweet” is set in a coffee shop and features the cooking of “Kusina Master” host, Chef Boy Logro. Logro said he didn’t aspire to become an actor, not in his wildest dreams, but having been presented such an opportunity, he is not one to shy away from the challenge.
Logro said he’s actually enjoying his stint as an actor, Visayan accent and all, this time.

MARIAN IS SWEET: From here on, Marian shall be sporting a new tag as Sweet, her name in the premiering series.
Sweet is a name she will be sharing with John Lapus, who has made a career out of calling himself Sweet for the longest time. Both Marian and John are known for their spitfire personality that often lands them in controversy.
Marian said that it would be great to guest John Lapus on the show as well. Then the audience can find out who’s really sweeter between the two of them.
Sharing supporting roles in “Tweets” – obviously a take on the most popular on-line lingo nowadays – are Sheena Halili and Mikey Bustos.
Sheena says she veers away from her usual palengkera type of comedy to play someone who’s inglisera for a change. “I’m working hard on my English for this role,” she said.
Bustos is the YouTube sensation who made a career out of his world famous Pinoy instructional video. He’s temporarily taking up residence in Manila to pursue an acting career here after having signed up with GMA Artist Center. Bustos, who was raised in Toronto, Canada says he’s still shocked by some everyday practices in the Philippines, including its horrifying traffic, but is not one to condemn the country for one such aberration. Still and all, it’s part of being Filipino, just like discovering the joy of working with Marian, whom Bustos finds extremely kalog, not jologs.
The new series, which premiered May 6 at 6:30 p.m. over GMA, also stars Barbie Forteza and Elmo Magalona.
